The Community

Who We Are

We are an independent community of people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, identities, and disciplines who share a belief in open knowledge, hands on learning, technical excellence, freedom of information, privacy, and the human right to communicate.

We believe strong communities are built through diversity of participants and perspectives. HackHouse welcomes makers, engineers, researchers, radio operators, programmers, hardware hackers, artists, students, and tinkerers of all skill levels who want to learn, contribute, collaborate, and experiment in an environment built on curiosity, mutual respect, and responsible exploration of technology.

We support open systems, decentralised infrastructure, interoperability, and the preservation of technical knowledge. We believe technology should empower individuals and communities rather than restrict them, and we encourage the use, study, and development of free and open source software, independent infrastructure, and accessible technical education.

As part of the broader international hacker community, we can also provide temporary accommodation for travelling hackers, researchers, and visiting members of aligned communities whenever space is available.

The Space

What's Inside

01 Metalworking & Fabrication

Lathes, mills, drills, surface grinders, blacksmithing forge, welding equipment, and metrology tools for precision fabrication and custom builds: enclosures, mounts, mechanical prototypes and more.

02 Electronics Lab

Oscilloscopes, soldering stations, logic analysers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, and bus analysers. Everything needed to analyse, modify, and build electronic hardware at any depth.

03 RF & Radio

Amateur radio infrastructure, SDR equipment, RFID systems, and satellite communications gear. From 125kHz proximity cards to satellite signal reception across the full RF spectrum.

04 Living Technology Museum

We preserve and operate historical computing and telecommunications equipment including IBM mainframes, ATMs, payphones, and other systems documenting the evolution of computing and communications culture.

05 Lab Supplies

We have a modest laboratory set up, primarily for de-capping ICs and testing various chemical based attacks on tamper evident seals. We also supply liquid nitrogen, biohacking equipment and other tools for research and experimentation.
